Experience the excitement of a lifetime with our three-day adventure to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. This trek offers amazing views of the Atlas Mountains and a deep dive into the rich Berber culture. Ideal for adventure seekers with some prior trekking experience, this journey promises gorgeous landscapes and unforgettable moments.
Day 1: Marrakech to Toubkal Refuge
Begin your adventure with an early morning departure from Marrakech to Imlil (1,745m). From here, start your trek through scenic Berber villages, gaining insight into local life and traditions. Stop for lunch at the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m), a spiritual site revered by locals. Continue your ascent, navigating zigzagging paths and passing shelter goats until you reach the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m). This first day involves approximately 6 hours of trekking through beautiful landscapes.
Day 2: Toubkal Summit
Rise early to tackle the ascent to Mount Toubkal (4,167m), the highest peak in North Africa. The climb is challenging but incredibly rewarding, offering spectacular sunrise views and panoramas of the Sahara Desert, High Atlas, Anti-Atlas, and various valleys. If time and conditions permit, you may also climb the nearby Toubkal West summit (4,030m). After soaking in the views and the sense of accomplishment, descend back to the refuge for an overnight stay. Expect around 5 hours of trekking on this day.
Day 3: Return to Marrakech
Begin your descent back towards Imlil, taking a different route that offers new perspectives of the landscape. Enjoy lunch under the shade of walnut trees in the village of Around. Before concluding your trek, visit a local waterfall, a peaceful spot among the rough terrain you've travelled. The final leg involves about 5 hours of trekking before your transport returns you to Marrakech.
