Discover Scotland's west coast with a 6-day sailing adventure through the Inner Hebrides. This immersive journey takes you through some of the most scenic and culturally rich islands, including Islay, Jura, and several others. Perfect for those seeking a unique maritime experience, this trip combines relaxed exploration with luxurious comfort.
Your journey begins in Oban, a scenic harbour town renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and convenient transport links. We gather at Oban’s new marina development at 3pm, where you'll meet your crew and settle in before setting sail.
Our first destination is the Isle of Seil, accessible via the iconic 'Bridge over the Atlantic'. This charming island features Ellenabeich village and the Scottish Slate Islands' Heritage Centre. Next, we navigate the Sound of Luing to Jura, home to the famous 'Paps of Jura' hills and a haven for wildlife, including red deer.
The following day, we sail to Islay, celebrated for its whisky distilleries and unspoilt beaches. Depending on weather conditions, we may also visit the Isle of Gigha, known for its sustainable dairy farm and lush gardens. Our return to Jura includes an overnight stay at the scenic West Loch Tarbert, where you might witness stags, otters, and seals.
Continuing north, we reach the Isle of Colonsay, with a possible stop at Oronsay for a beachside lunch. We anchor in Kiloran Bay, offering expansive sandy beaches and refreshing sea air. Our voyage concludes with a return to the Oban area, stopping at the Isle of Kerrera. Here, you can explore craggy coves, seal colonies, and enjoy the local tea room. The final night allows for a relaxed departure, ensuring you're well-prepared to catch your onward travel connections the next morning.
Oban, known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles,’ provides an ideal starting point for this maritime adventure. This lively town offers excellent transport links and a variety of local amenities. From there, the beautiful landscapes and remote islands of the Inner Hebrides await your discovery.
You’ll stay aboard a well-appointed boat, fully equipped for comfort and convenience. The accommodation features cosy cabins, a spacious saloon, and all the necessary amenities to ensure a pleasant stay.
No prior sailing experience is required for this trip. Whether you are a seasoned traveller or a first-time sailor, our experienced skipper and crew will ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey. All safety equipment and guidance will be provided.
We are dedicated to sharing the beauty and heritage of Scotland’s west coast with our guests. Our deep local knowledge and passion for the sea ensure a personalised experience, tailored to your interests and the prevailing conditions.
We pride ourselves on offering a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where you can enjoy both the stunning landscapes and the friendship of fellow travellers. Our commitment to sustainability and local culture enhances your journey, making it both enriching and memorable. With us, you’re not just joining a trip, but connecting with a family of like-minded adventurers.
You should pack light and practical items including:
Oban is well-connected by rail, road, and ferry. You can take a train from Glasgow or Edinburgh to Oban, which is a scenic route.
Alternatively, you can drive to Oban and use the town’s car parks. There are also bus services from major cities to Oban. For ferry connections, check local schedules if you’re travelling from the islands or other parts of Scotland.
Please arrive by 3pm on the start date of your trip to meet at Oban’s new marina development. This allows time for boarding and an introduction to the crew before setting sail.
We cater for both meat-eating and vegetarian diets. For other dietary needs, such as vegan or gluten-free options, please check with us before booking.
If you have food allergies, be sure to include these on your medical form. We’ll do our best to accommodate food preferences, but please understand that space on board is limited.
While we can prepare nut-free or gluten-free meals, the boat itself is not a nut-free or gluten-free zone.
Seasickness can occur, especially on the first day or in rough conditions. If you start to feel unwell, inform a crew member so we can assist you, particularly if you are taking medication.
Steering the boat often helps, as it allows your eyes and inner ear to sync, similar to how driving a car prevents motion sickness. For most people, the sensation passes within a few hours, aided by a hot drink, a ginger biscuit, and some rest.
We’ll provide you with a kit list once you’ve booked. Essential items include layers, hats, and waterproof footwear with good grip. Beach landings may require wellies or waterproof shoes.
High-quality sailing waterproofs are not necessary; a standard waterproof jacket and trousers will suffice.
Please pack your items in soft, foldable bags, as storage space is limited and cannot accommodate hard cases. All safety equipment, including lifejackets and safety lines, is provided.
We strongly recommend taking out holiday insurance that covers all eventualities, including sailing.
Our holidays are fully catered, so you’re not required to cook unless you’d like to try your hand at it. Cooking onboard can be a unique experience, especially at sea, and some guests enjoy participating.
The skipper and crew prepare all meals, but you’re welcome to join in if you wish. Otherwise, just relax and take in the views with a glass of wine.
Please note, we do operate a rota for washing up, so everyone is expected to pitch in as part of the team experience.
There is no upper age limit. We simply ask that you consider your physical capabilities. Agility tends to be more important than physical strength.
All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
No experience is necessary! We welcome guests of all skill levels, from complete beginners to seasoned sailors. Our fully-qualified skipper is also a sailing instructor who enjoys teaching and sharing knowledge. Many guests like to get involved in the sailing activities, learning in a relaxed and informal environment without the pressure of a formal course.
However, if you prefer to relax, you’re welcome to simply sit back and enjoy the scenery while the fully crewed boat handles everything.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
