Target sports offer a fun and rewarding way to test your accuracy and coordination. Whether you're aiming a bow, throwing an axe, or trying your hand at spear-throwing, each activity provides a unique challenge suitable for all ages and abilities. With expert coaching, you'll quickly pick up the skills needed to hit your target and enjoy some friendly competition along the way.
Archery
Led by experienced coaches, the archery session begins with a safety briefing and an introduction to correct stance and technique. You’ll learn how to hold the bow, draw the string, and release with accuracy. After a few practice rounds, you’ll move on to target challenges and fun competitions. Sessions are designed to suit all levels, so whether it’s your first time or you're refining your skills, there’s plenty of opportunity to progress.
Axe-Throwing
Axe-throwing offers a different kind of challenge, requiring a mix of precision and controlled power. You’ll be shown how to grip and throw the axe effectively, with step-by-step coaching to help you improve your technique. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can take on different target challenges and see how many successful throws you can land. It’s a highly satisfying skill to develop, and once you get the hang of it, you won’t want to stop.
Spear-Throwing (Optional Extra)
For those looking to try something unique, spear-throwing can be added to an archery session. This activity gives you a chance to test your accuracy and technique with a traditional throwing spear. After some initial coaching, you’ll practise launching the spear towards a target, refining your aim with each throw.
Paintball Target Range
For an alternative shooting experience, the paintball range provides a fast-paced target sport using state-of-the-art multi-shot paintball systems. You’ll have the chance to test your accuracy on a variety of targets, using different styles of replica firearms. It’s a great way to practise shooting skills in a non-contact setting.
Sessions are based at Trelissick Gardens, a beautiful National Trust site near Truro. The gardens offer a peaceful setting with open spaces ideal for archery and throwing sports. Surrounded by woodland and overlooking the River Fal, it’s a fantastic place to enjoy outdoor activities while soaking up the fresh air.
If you prefer a more flexible option, mobile archery sessions can be arranged at a location of your choice. This is ideal for schools, birthday parties, and private events, bringing the full archery experience to your own setting.
All equipment and coaching are provided, ensuring the same level of instruction whether you visit Trelissick or choose a mobile session.
No previous experience is necessary, as all activities are suitable for beginners and those with more experience. Full instruction and safety guidance will be provided before each session.
A reasonable level of coordination is helpful, but the sessions can be adapted to suit different abilities.
