Ready to advance your diving skills? Enrol in our BSAC Sports Diver course and explore the depths with confidence and competence.
In the BSAC Sports Diver course, you'll advance beyond basic diving skills. This includes learning rescue techniques, effectively using Surface Marker Buoys (SMBs) and Delayed Surface Marker Buoys (DSMBs), navigation under various conditions, and understanding different equipment setups. Additionally, you'll learn about using Nitrox 36 for diving and gain insights into planning decompression-stop required dives. The course also introduces you to the role of supporting a Dive Manager.
Divers under 14 years old who complete the BSAC Sports Diver course are qualified to dive up to a maximum depth of 20 meters. For those over 14, post-qualification depth progression is available, allowing you to increase your diving depth in 5-meter increments, up to a maximum of 35 meters. This progression ensures diving skills and experience are developed safely and gradually.
To enrol in the BSAC Sports Diver course, you must be at least 12 years old and have successfully completed the BSAC Ocean Diver course or hold a qualifying certification from another recognized training agency. This prerequisite ensures that all participants have a foundational understanding of diving and are ready for more advanced training.
The course begins at Spring Lakes Watersports, perfect for sheltered water lessons. For open water training, we use Stoney Cove in Leicester and Dosthill Quarry in Tamworth. Stoney Cove offers varied terrains and features like wrecks for an intermediate-level experience, while Dosthill Quarry, with its clear waters and wall dives, provides an excellent environment for practicing advanced skills.
While the course fee covers all necessary training and equipment, it does not include personal travel and accommodation. We recommend participants arrange their accommodation near the training locations for convenience. Feel free to contact us for recommendations on nearby accommodation options that cater to different budgets and preferences.
The completion time for the BSAC Sports Diver course varies based on individual progress, weather conditions, and scheduling. Generally, the course can be completed in approximately 4 days. This includes both the practical and theoretical aspects of the course.
