Camp Cornwall provides a true summer camp experience with a touch of comfort:
With over 20 years of experience, we are one of the leading outdoor adventure centres in the UK. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. Here's why families trust us:
We understand that many parents have work commitments and may need help with transportation. Our chaperone service is here to provide a convenient solution for getting your child safely to and from our camp in Cornwall.
This optional service offers a fully accompanied minibus journey between Newbury train station and Porthpean, Cornwall, making travel hassle-free for both you and your child.
Service Availability: Our chaperone service is available exclusively for 5-Night Camps. The service operates for arrivals on Sunday and departures on Friday.
Accompanied Travel: On the first day of camp, a dedicated Camp Cornwall Group Leader will meet your child, assist with their luggage, and ensure they are settled in for the journey. The same care is provided for the return journey on Friday. Your child will be in safe hands as they travel to and from camp with one of our experienced leaders.
Chaperone Service Locations and Costs:
Before the camp, the Group Leader will arrange a video call with you to introduce themselves and answer any questions you may have. During the journey, they will keep you updated on the estimated time of arrival, so you’ll always know when to expect your child.
Please remember to book the chaperone service when reserving your child's place at the camp.
For one-way journeys, we can recommend nearby overnight accommodation if you'd like to spend some extra time in Cornwall before or after the camp.
Please note that the meeting points, times, and availability of this service are subject to change based on bookings. Your child’s safety is our top priority. All Group Leaders are experienced staff members who hold enhanced DBS checks, first aid certifications, and safeguarding training. Rest assured, they will receive the best care on their journey to camp.
At Camp Cornwall, we focus on enjoying the great outdoors. We encourage campers to leave their mobile phones and tablets in secure lockers during the day to fully engage in activities. Phones are allowed during evening "chill-out" time, where your child can call home in a designated private space. Outside of this time, phones should be stored in lockers. If you need to reach your child during the day, our Duty Manager is available 24/7 for emergencies. Children on day camps must leave their phones in lockers for the entire day.
For overnight camps, we recommend packing the following:
Yes, all our activity instructors are fully qualified and trained to deliver adventurous activities safely. Staff are experienced in working with children and young people, and all are DBS-checked. Our senior management team has over 15 years of experience running camps.
We provide three meals a day plus snacks, and our menu is designed with children in mind. We cater to a wide range of dietary needs, including allergies, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. You will be asked to provide dietary requirements when booking, and we will double-check on arrival and before each meal.
Our staff are experienced in helping children who feel homesick. We provide plenty of support and encourage campers to engage in activities and make friends. If homesickness persists, we will contact you to discuss the best approach. We always ensure children feel safe and supported.
We take food allergies and dietary restrictions seriously. You will be asked to fill in an online form detailing any allergies or restrictions before camp, and we will confirm these on arrival. We work closely with our catering team to ensure all dietary needs are met safely.
Yes, all water-based activities are conducted with the use of buoyancy aids, and our instructors are trained to adapt the activities based on your child's comfort level in the water. Your child's safety is our priority.
We use a "Challenge by Choice" approach, meaning your child is encouraged to take part in activities at their own pace without pressure. Our staff are skilled at supporting children and building their confidence, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable during every activity.
Children are allocated to sleeping groups based on age and gender. If your child is attending with a friend, you can request to have them stay in the same group. Our bunkhouse tents are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for personal items.
Yes, your child can bring their own wetsuit. However, please note that it will be stored with the camp's wetsuits and cannot be dried near their accommodation. We provide all necessary equipment for water activities, so bringing your own is optional.
Our trained Matron is responsible for administering any prescribed medications your child needs. Please provide clear instructions, and we will ensure they are taken as required. For non-prescription medications like Calpol, we will only administer it with your written consent.
Toilets are accessible throughout the night, with well-lit paths to guide children. Our night staff are on hand to assist campers if needed. Campers are also briefed on where facilities are located during their first day.
Yes, we provide separate shower facilities for boys, girls, and staff. Each shower is in a private cubicle, and we have both indoor and outdoor showers, with outdoor showers being particularly popular. Showers are scheduled in the evening after the day’s activities.
Absolutely! We encourage children to bring comfort items such as soft toys or blankets, especially if they are nervous about being away from home. However, we advise against bringing anything too valuable as it may get lost or damaged.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
