Time to take on a new adventure and use the ability you have built indoors in a natural environment! Outdoor “traditional” climbing gives us the chance to experience climbing in a new way, adding a wider set of skills to the purely physical. If you are looking for a personal development goal for this year, what could be finer than accomplishing your first Multi-Pitch climbs in the heart of the stunning Lake District.
Itinerary
Day 1:
Time to enjoy the beautiful Lake District scenery and some fantastic climbing
We aim to give you a comprehensive and fun introduction to climbing in the outdoors. We will focus on adapting our movement skills learned indoors to the outdoor style whilst learning about the risks associated with outdoor climbing and how they are mitigated. We will introduce traditional climbing equipment and how it is used, learning how to use a harness, tie in to a rope, belay another climber, select the right carabiner for each task, read a route, identify rests and move efficiently. By the end of the day you should be confident in climbing on a top rope in a single pitch environment and have a clear picture of the techniques and equipment used. This day may also include participants on a single day adventure.
Day 2:
Moving on to longer climbs.
Introducing you to the processes involved in seconding a traditional Multi-Pitch Climb. On a 1:2 ratio, we will introduce the skills needed to belay a lead climber efficiently, from standing on the ground and on intermediate stances. Once this is mastered, you will be able to follow your climbing guide up the route whilst being belayed safely from above. We will look at belay stance management, rope management, placing and removing climbing protection, basic rescue protocol and descending from routes.
Day 3:
Time to tick the classics.
Putting together the skills gained from our previous days climbing, to good use while climbing multi pitch mountain classics in the heart of the Lake District. Following in the adventurous footsteps of climbing pioneers We will be able to select something suitable for any weather and skill level.
If you have been climbing regularly for 3 months, you will have all the strength and technique needed to undertake the Classic Rock Experience.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
