We offer a wide range of group surf coaching sessions tailored to your needs. Suitable for friends, family, celebrations, and corporate groups and schools. We're here to provide quality attention and ensure you have a fantastic time in the waves.
Our group sessions are always tailored to you and your group. However, we tend to cover the following along with any special requests:
Our group sessions are adaptable to your needs, with an emphasis on safety and fun. Whether you're a beginner or improver, we cater to your skill level. Expect a mix of dry land and water-based teaching, leaving plenty of time for practice.
Each session starts with a gentle beach warm-up to get your muscles ready for action.
The session will last two hours, to give plenty of time to see some great progress.
Join us at the stunning Porthcawl, Bridgend County, where the waves are inviting and the scenery is picturesque. Our prime location offers the perfect setting for beginners to learn and progress their surfing skills.
Our Surf Academy is based near the beaches of Porthcawl, about 25 minutes from Cardiff, but we offer lessons all along the South Wales coast. We'll go where the waves are!
The main beaches we use are: Rest Bay, Coney (Sandy Bay), Aberavon, and Southerndown.
We will send you the precise address and postcode of our meeting point upon booking. We are happy to discuss your preference of beach depending on your location, too! Feel free to drop a preference in the comments field when you book and we will do our best to accommodate.
There are no specific prerequisites for a group surfing session. We will tailor the session to you and your group.
When you choose us for your beginner surf lesson, you gain access to:
In theory, anyone and everyone who can swim regardless of age. We tend to teach people from age 8 upwards.
If you are younger and keen speak to us first before booking so we can advise if a surf lesson is feasible for your age.
A decent level of fitness will help, but you don’t have to turn pro to enjoy surfing – the best surfer is the one having the most fun, even if that involves falling off a few times! If you’re interested, give it a go…
No experience is necessary, but you will need to be able to swim and feel fairly confident in the water. We use 50m as a good distance people should be able to comfortably swim before learning to surf. Beginners start in shallow water though, so we will work at a pace you feel comfortable with.
If you have your own board and wetsuit, bring them with you. If you don’t, suitable ones will be provided. You should bring a towel and swimsuit to wear underneath the wetsuit. Sunscreen and a warm top for after your surf are also not a bad idea, and possibly a bottle of water and small snack for when you’re done, as you can use up a lot of energy in the water.
Lessons can be arranged for any time or day of the week, subject to availability. If you don’t see a time or date which suits you, just send the adventuro team a message in the online chat, and they will help to facilitate and alternative date which works for you and us.
We are based in Porthcawl, but teach down the South Wales coastline. We’d generally go to the beach with the best conditions for your ability at the time of your lesson – we go where the waves are!
The main beaches we use are: Rest Bay, Coney (Sandy Bay), Aberavon, and Southerndown.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
