The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course is crafted to equip paddlers with crucial safety and rescue skills required for handling various scenarios in sheltered water environments. This course is ideal for paddlers of all ages and skill levels who wish to enhance their capabilities and gain confidence on the water.
The course begins with a thorough introduction to the principles of paddlesport safety and rescue. You'll engage in practical exercises designed to build your competence in key rescue techniques, including how to perform various rescues and manage common paddling challenges.
Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to practice these skills in real-world scenarios under the guidance of experienced instructors. By the end of the course, you will be well-prepared to handle emergencies confidently and efficiently. The training includes both theoretical and hands-on components to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the skills needed.
The course takes place in Kingussie, a scenic town in the heart of the Cairngorms. This setting provides an ideal environment for practical paddling exercises and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
Participants should bring their personal paddling kit and boat, if available, along with any rescue equipment they normally carry.
While prior paddling experience is helpful, it is not mandatory. The course is designed to accommodate various skill levels, making it accessible to all paddlers.
