What should I wear for the kayak hire session?

It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet. Jogging trousers, a sweatshirt, or water-friendly attire are ideal. Bring a spare change of clothes, old trainers or wetsuit boots for the water, waterproofs or your own wetsuit (wetsuits are available for hire for £5), and a towel for after the session. Be sure to also pack sun cream, a warm hat or sun hat depending on the weather.

Is there a minimum age requirement for the kayak hire?

Yes, participants must be at least 8 years old to hire a single sit on top kayak. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for supervision while on the water.

Are there any weight restrictions for kayaking?

Each kayak has a weight limit of around 120kg (18 stone). This ensures that the kayaks perform safely and comfortably in the water. If you’re unsure about whether you meet the weight requirements, feel free to contact us before booking.

Do I need any kayaking experience?

No prior experience is necessary for this activity. The session is designed to be accessible to all levels, from beginners to experienced paddlers. Our qualified staff will provide all the necessary safety instructions before you head out on the water, ensuring you feel confident during your session.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my session?

In the case of rain, sessions will still proceed as planned, as you’re going to get wet anyway! However, if there is lightning and thunder, the session will be paused for safety reasons. If conditions improve, we’ll resume the session. If not, you’ll have the option to rebook for a later time or day, or request a refund.

Are dogs allowed at Lower Moor?

Yes, dogs are welcome at Lower Moor but must remain on a lead at all times. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the lake or on the kayaks. We ask that you ensure your dog is kept under control during your visit.
