What should I wear for my kayaking session?

We recommend wearing clothes suitable for being on the water, such as jogging trousers and a sweatshirt. You’ll also need a towel for after your session. Closed-toe shoes are essential, so old trainers or wetsuit boots are ideal. If you have your own wetsuit, you can bring that, or one can be hired for £5. Be sure to bring sun protection, such as sun cream, and a hat to protect against the elements.

Is kayaking suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Our single sit-on-top kayaks are easy to use and great for beginners. You'll receive full guidance and safety instructions from our experienced staff before you head out on the water. Whether you’re new to kayaking or have done it before, our staff are there to support you.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Rain doesn’t stop our sessions—after all, you’re going to get wet anyway! If it’s just rain, your session will continue as planned. However, if there’s lightning or thunder nearby, we’ll pause the session for safety. You can either rebook for later in the day, another day, or request a refund. Your safety is always our priority.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Basic swimming skills are required for safety, as you may need to help yourself if you fall into the water. However, the kayaks are very stable, and the lake is shallow, so it’s unlikely you’ll end up in the water unless you want to. Our qualified staff are always on hand to assist if necessary.

What’s the minimum age for kayaking?

The minimum age for hiring a single sit-on-top kayak is 8 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, but the adult doesn’t need to be on the water.

Unfortunately, due to the site being a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), dogs are not allowed on site. This is to help preserve the local wildlife and environment. Please make alternative arrangements for your pet during your visit.
