Cathedral Quarry is a spectacular tribute to the industrial past that formed most of what you see in the Lake District. Your adventure starts with a short walk through the slate to arrive at the lower tunnel entrance of the quarry. You will enter the main cavern and with any luck, there won't be many people around so you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
Another tunnel and a short scramble takes you to the upper quarry where you can see the 2 forthcoming abseils. Once at the top, you will be "shown the ropes" and have a practice on safe ground before going over the edge. The first abseil is a good taster for the big one. After that we walk round to the main event, and get set up. You will feel the atmosphere of the location as you lean over the edge and start to descend. A second descent will allow you to simply enjoy it, and once down, we get the torches out to leave through another tunnel.
The activity will take place at Cathedral Quarry, Coniston but other locations are available. The precise location will be agreed upon booking as we are flexible to your preference.
No prior experience is needed; Abseiling is perfect for participants of all levels. Our expert guides ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, providing guidance every step of the way.
Children as young as 8 may be able to participate if accompanied by a participating parent/guardian. Customers should specifically request any child under the age of 12 and this will be subject to approval by Follow Your Path Adventures.
