Join us for a fun-filled 2-hour 'BSUPA Ready to Ride' SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) lesson on the serene River Avon. The calm, protected waters and slow river traffic create an ideal environment, especially for beginners. As you paddle, be prepared to encounter a diverse array of wildlife enhancing your experience!
Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the equipment and have quick safety briefing.
We'll do a quick technique session on land, so you can understand different paddling techniques, and then transition to the water as soon as possible for some hands-on practice.
In the water, we'll practice various paddle techniques, practice standing up, and grasp different turning methods.
The lesson will also encompass aspects of safety, playful games, challenges, and a tour of the River Avon's surroundings filled with native wildlife.
The session takes place on the River Avon, situated between Bath and Bristol. We'll meet at our base in Keynsham, near Avon Valley Farm. Upon arrival at Avon Valley Farm, you'll be able follow signs to our car park. We will send you our full address, postcode, and What3Words upon booking.
Our location at Avon Valley Farm provides a unique mix of calm waters and rich biodiversity. Our dedicated instructors ensure personalised attention, given our small group sizes. With top-notch equipment from renowned brands, and thorough health and safety measures in place, we promise an enriching SUP experience. And while we can't guarantee you won't get a splash, we can ensure memories worth cherishing!
If you have any queries, don't hesitate to reach out to us! Happy Paddleboarding!
We can host up to maximum of 6 people per instructor and we have a fleet of up to 24 boards.
Please wear footwear suitable for the outdoors for arrival and wetsuit boots, water shoes or old trainers for the lesson. Wear something comfortable, we have wetsuits available, but if you have your own then please do bring it along. Please do not wear anything you could lose during the session, eg. rings, earrings, expensive watches, etc. All our participants must wear a PFD / buoyancy aid at all times (provided)!
The River Avon is rich in biodiversity. Common sightings include Kingfishers, Herons, Dragonflies, and even Otters.
Plenty of free parking is available on-site, including disabled parking areas. An overflow car park is present for larger groups.
We will contact you in case of adverse weather or inadequate conditions. Once a session is booked, please presume it will go ahead unless we contact you. Adverse weather means, thunderstorms, gail force winds, freezing cold conditions, or a downpour of heavy rain. All other conditions, including light rain, we will proceed as normal.
