This intermediate caving course is perfect for those looking to explore more challenging and adventurous cave systems. Aimed at those with some caving experience or who are already familiar with basic caving techniques, the course features a combination of horizontal and vertical sections. Expect to tackle ladder climbs, abseils, and even crawl through some watery passages. If you're seeking an adventurous underground experience, this course will test your fitness and push your limits, all while learning valuable caving skills.
The course will take you deep into the Peak District's renowned limestone caves. These systems include both horizontal and vertical passages, where you'll face challenges such as ladder climbs, abseiling next to underground waterfalls, and crawling through smaller, water-filled sections. Your instructors will guide you through these challenges and explain how these cave systems were formed, making for an educational as well as physically demanding experience.
The day culminates with a fun and unique lights-out challenge, where you’ll truly experience the depths of the cave in complete darkness. The course is designed for those with a reasonable level of fitness, as it involves climbing and abseiling in confined spaces. Your safety is ensured by fully qualified instructors who will provide assistance throughout the course.
