An abseiling experience in the Peak District offers a unique adventure, whether you're looking for a fun outdoor challenge or preparing for a charity event. Suitable for individuals, families, or groups, these sessions provide a thrilling way to explore the heights of the gorgeous Peak District landscape. Participants will be in safe hands with fully qualified and insured instructors, making this a perfect choice for those seeking a fun activity in a scenic setting.
The session begins with a meet-up at the Millersdale Viaduct car park at 9:30 am, where you will be introduced to your instructor and the day’s plan. After a short briefing on safety and techniques, you'll begin your descent from the viaduct, with plenty of time to practice and improve your skills. The viaduct is the ideal spot for abseiling, offering easy access to the landing zone and quick return to the top for another go. Whether you’re new to abseiling or have some experience, this is a great opportunity to test your nerves while taking in the views of the surrounding Peak District.
If you prefer a bit more adventure, there are also opportunities to abseil from various cliffs and crags across the Peak District. These locations offer a more scenic experience, although they require a slightly longer time to get back to the top for additional descents. After the session, you'll return to the car park by 12 pm, ready for the rest of your day. If you’re planning a longer adventure, combining abseiling with other outdoor activities is a fantastic way to make the most of your time in the area.
The Peak District, a national park known for its dramatic landscapes, is home to some of the UK’s best outdoor adventures. Millersdale Viaduct is a popular and accessible location for abseiling, providing easy access to the landing zone and gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside.
Situated near Tideswell, this spot offers a fantastic setting for those looking to try abseiling in a safe and welcoming environment. The Peak District also offers other picturesque cliffs and crags that can be used for more challenging abseiling experiences.
Abseiling is suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness, as the activity does involve descending from a height.
For those new to the sport, our instructors will guide you through the basics to ensure you feel confident throughout the session. If you are planning to take part in a charity abseil event, this session is also a great way to practice and build confidence ahead of the main event.
