We'll take you to multiple handpicked swimming spots, where you can enjoy dipping and swimming in the midst of breathtaking scenery. Throughout the day, there will be ample time to relax, enjoy the surroundings, and savor a well-deserved picnic lunch by the water's edge.
The Full-Day Adventurer takes you on a curated route through the Lake District’s most scenic swimming locations. From secluded lakes to hidden coves, we select the best spots that promise both safety and beauty. If you have a particular place in mind, we’re happy to include it in our route planning to personalise your experience.
Swimmers should be comfortable in the water (ability to swim 50m unaided) and have a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy the full-day outing. No specific wild swimming experience is required, as our expert guides will be with you every stroke of the way.

Absolutely! This particular session is only available in summer. However, you can see our range of opportunities which run year-round at the bottom of this page, including twilight swims, and sunrise and sunset swims.
Wild swimming is swimming in natural bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, and oceans, as opposed to swimming in man-made pools. It emphasises the experience of swimming in a natural, often outdoor environment, and is often appreciated for its connection to nature, sense of freedom, and the different sensory experience compared to pool swimming. Wild swimming has grown in popularity as a way to enjoy the outdoors, exercise, and experience the mental and emotional benefits of being in natural surroundings.
We carefully select a variety of stunning locations for the Full-Day Adventurer, ranging from serene lakes to hidden coves within the Lake District. These spots are chosen for their beauty, safety, and suitability for a range of swimming abilities. If you have specific places in mind within the Lake District that you'd like to explore, we're more than happy to consider including them in our planned route.
Please come prepared with your swimwear, a towel. If you have a wetsuit, it's recommended for additional warmth, but not compulsory. Don't forget a change of dry clothes for after your swim, and a waterproof bag can be handy to keep your belongings dry. Some of the walks to the start of the swim are uneven and wearing appropriate walking shoes is advised. Additionally, bring sun protection, a hat, and a change of clothes. We recommend packing a waterproof bag for your belongings and a picnic lunch or snacks to enjoy during breaks. Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and have a basic level of swimming ability. While you don’t need to be an expert swimmer, a reasonable level of fitness is necessary as the activity spans over 5-6 hours and includes multiple swimming sessions. The adventure is designed to be enjoyable for a range of skill levels, and our instructors will provide support and guidance tailored to each participant's comfort and ability.
