Join us for an exhilarating 3-hour Boat Snorkel Tour off the scenic coast of Portrush. This tour is perfect for groups looking to swim with seals, explore vibrant kelp forests, and discover underwater canyons and caves in the company of our resident seal colony at the Skerries Islands.
Your adventure begins at Portrush Harbour where our team will equip you with snorkeling gear and provide a detailed briefing on safety and wildlife interaction.
Once aboard our safari boat, we’ll pass the stunning Ramore Headland, home to diverse seabirds.
Upon reaching the Skerries Islands, you’ll dive into the water to meet the seals and explore the underwater landscapes of caverns, canyons, and kelp forests.
Experienced snorkelers and freedivers will have the opportunity to venture further into underwater caves and deep drop-offs.
After about 1.5 hours in the water, we return to the boat and head back for a warm cuppa, a pint of Guinness, or some hot whiskey and shared stories at the harbour bar around a cosy fire.
The tour takes place around the Skerries Islands, a few miles off the coast of Portrush. The area is known for its rich marine life and beautiful underwater topography.
Participants must be able to swim 100 meters unaided and have a moderate level of fitness and mobility, including the ability to climb a ladder back onto the boat. Please inform us of any medical conditions that might affect your ability to participate in water activities.
We pride ourselves on providing safe, memorable, and immersive water experiences. Our knowledgeable guides and instructors are committed to ensuring you have a comfortable and enriching experience. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced snorkeler, our Boat Snorkel Tour offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and explore the hidden treasures of the Northern Irish coast. Book online today and prepare for an unforgettable adventure with us!
Participants should bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat, and warm clothing for after the tour. Water and snacks are also recommended.
The tour begins at Portrush Harbour. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting point. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of 9:30 AM.
Expect to see a variety of marine life including seals, various fish species, and seabirds like Gannets and Oystercatchers. The kelp forests and underwater caves also offer a rich ecosystem to explore.
No prior snorkeling experience is necessary, but participants must be able to swim 100 meters unaided. Our guides provide all the necessary training and support during the tour.
Yes, the tour is suitable for participants aged 12 and above. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Safety is our priority. The tour is led by experienced guides, and all participants are given a safety briefing. We provide buoyancy aids, and the boat is always nearby. Instructors are also trained in first aid and rescue techniques.
If adverse weather conditions make it unsafe to proceed, the tour will be rescheduled. We will notify you as soon as possible if there are any changes due to weather. If we do not contact you, please assume the tour is going ahead as the conditions have been assessed as safe - a bit of rain won't stop us!
You may choose to stay on the boat if you prefer not to enter the water. However, please note that no refunds are given for choosing not to participate in water activities after the tour has started.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
