We had a great experience, Justin is a brilliant, easy going instructor who explains things clearly and makes it fun, whilst feeling safe. We now feel equipped to head out as a family with our own paddleboard.

Explore the heart of the Peak District on a guided mountain bike ride starting from the iconic Cat and Fiddle. This session is designed to showcase classic Peak District riding: open moorland, gritstone edges, fast-flowing bridleways and technical rocky sections. It’s a great way to experience the area’s riding without worrying about navigation, trail access, or route choice.
This is a demo experience for our Peak Venture centre and a solid introduction to what guided riding in the Peaks looks like.
The ride links together some of the Peak District’s best high-ground routes, with a mix of rolling doubletrack, rocky bridleways, short technical climbs and rewarding descents. Terrain varies throughout, from exposed moorland riding to more sheltered valley trails, depending on conditions and group ability.
The route will be adapted on the day to suit the group, weather and trail conditions. Your guide will offer line choice advice, pacing support and riding tips throughout, making this suitable for confident beginners through to experienced riders who want a well-paced, local-led ride.
This is not a race and not a coaching session, but riders often pick up useful trail skills simply by riding with an experienced local guide.
The ride starts at the Cat and Fiddle, one of the highest road points in the Peak District and a classic gateway to riding around Macclesfield Forest, Goyt Valley and the western Peaks.
This area is known for its big views, exposed riding and rugged trails. Expect classic Peak District conditions: wind, changing weather and grippy gritstone when dry.
Open to riders aged 16+. You should be comfortable riding off-road for several hours and able to handle uneven, rocky terrain. Some climbing is unavoidable.
You’ll need a well-maintained mountain bike with suitable tyres and working brakes. Hardtail or full suspension bikes are both suitable. Helmets are mandatory. Please dress for changeable weather.
If you need bike hire, let us know at booking so we can advise on suitable options.

It’s a straightforward, well-run ride designed to give you confidence in the terrain, a solid day out on the bike, and a clear sense of whether guided riding in the Peak District is right for you.

Neil was great…guided us clearly and encouraged us before, during and after. We felt safe and confident due to his presence and had a really enjoyable time. We were a bit nervous at first but are so glad that we did it. What a fantastic experience.
My instructor was Tom, he was extremely good, made us feel safe and the experience very enjoyable. Would definitely use again
