This course is perfect for those looking to enhance their skills on flow trails with jumps and berms. Led by experienced coach Michael, who has been teaching since 2012 and racing across various disciplines, this session will help you master the techniques needed to ride manmade trails confidently and efficiently.
The session begins with a brief introduction and safety briefing by Michael, your coach. You'll start with learning the fundamentals of pumping, which is essential for gaining speed and mastering your jumping technique. This involves using your body movements to control and generate momentum without pedalling. Next, you’ll focus on soaking and squashing techniques to manage speed and grip. These skills will allow you to control your bike more precisely over various trail features. The session then progresses to jumping, where you will build on core movement skills to manage momentum and clear jumps safely and efficiently. Michael will provide personalised feedback and guidance to help you refine your technique. The final part of the session is dedicated to mastering berms. You'll develop cornering skills that enable you to carry more speed through berms, enhancing your overall trail flow. Throughout the session, Michael's rider-centred coaching approach ensures that you receive tailored advice and support, making the experience effective and enjoyable.
The coaching session takes place at Greno Woods MTB trails and Wharncliffe Woods. You'll meet at the Grenoside Woods car park, S35 8RS. These locations offer a variety of trails perfect for practising and improving your flow trail skills.
To get the most out of this course, it’s recommended to complete the Core Techniques and Whistlestop Skills courses, or a 1.5-hour private session beforehand.
