Embark on your freediving journey with our SSI Level 1 course, designed for ocean lovers who want to explore the underwater world more deeply. Over two days, you'll learn the fundamentals of freediving, including proper breathing techniques, relaxation, and efficient use of fins, to safely dive to depths of 10-20 meters.
Start with a breathing and relaxation session, followed by a dry breath hold practice. The morning concludes with the first confined water session. After lunch, dive into theory before embarking on the first open water session.
More advanced theory kicks off the day, followed by a second confined water session. Post-lunch, undertake the final open water session, then complete the course with a final exam and a celebratory photo session.
The course utilises both a controlled pool environment and open water settings to provide comprehensive training and real-world experience. The exact locations are chosen based on optimal conditions and safety.
Participants must be at least 12 years old with a moderate level of swimming proficiency and comfort in the water. No prior freediving experience is required, although familiarity with basic snorkeling or swimming is beneficial.
As a certified SSI training centre, we are dedicated to providing a high-standard of instruction and safety. Our experienced instructors are passionate about freediving and committed to helping you achieve confidence and competence in the water. Our course not only teaches you how to freedive safely but also prepares you for further freediving adventures, with opportunities to continue to Level 2 on our international trips.

Participants must be at least 12 years old and have a moderate level of swimming proficiency. No prior freediving experience is required, but comfort in the water is essential.
You will learn the basics of freediving, including breathing and relaxation techniques, dry breath-holding, dynamic apnea, and practical skills for diving to depths of 10-20 metres safely.
The course spans two full days, typically starting at 9 am and ending in the late afternoon, with various sessions dedicated to theory, confined water practice, and open water dives.
All necessary equipment is provided, including wetsuits, fins, masks, snorkels, and weight belts. You are welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.
The £350 fee includes all freediving equipment, SSI certification upon completion, a digital manual, and pool and boat hire necessary for the training sessions.
Participants with medical conditions should consult their doctor before enrolling. The course is not suitable for expectant mothers or individuals with back, neck, shoulder, or cardiovascular issues. You will be required to complete a medical form to participate.
Some participants may require additional training to meet the certification requirements, especially in mastering equalisation and reaching the required depths. Extra sessions can be arranged for an additional fee.
If adverse weather conditions prevent safe diving practices, the course may be rescheduled, or alternative arrangements will be made to complete the water sessions on another suitable day.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
